Thomas Przybylowski
Helping New Jersey and New York business owners understand their legal risks, resolve disputes, and make informed decisions about what to do next.
Thomas Przybylowski is a senior counsel at Stature Legal who works with business owners facing contract disputes, commercial conflicts, and other legal problems that can interfere with running and growing a business.
Before joining Stature Legal, Tom spent eight years handling complex litigation at Pomerantz LLP and Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP in New York. His experience includes securities litigation, commercial and contract disputes, regulatory matters, discovery, depositions, motion practice, and oral argument in federal court.
A Litigation Background Built for Complicated Business Problems
Business disputes rarely arrive neatly packaged.
A disagreement that appears to be about one contract provision may also involve years of emails, financial records, competing expectations, regulatory questions, or an important business relationship that the owner would prefer to preserve.
Tom's litigation experience has trained him to work through complicated records, identify the facts that matter, research difficult legal questions, and focus on the issues most likely to affect the outcome.
At Pomerantz LLP, Tom represented institutional and retail investors in securities fraud class actions in U.S. federal courts and internationally. His work included drafting complaints and motions, managing discovery, conducting and assisting with depositions, participating in court proceedings, and presenting oral argument in federal court.
Previously, at Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP, Tom represented publicly traded and privately held companies, hedge funds, private equity firms, and investment managers in securities, commercial, contract, regulatory, employment, antitrust, bankruptcy, and other disputes.
That experience gives Tom a perspective that is particularly useful when a business owner needs to understand not simply what a document says, but what could happen if the disagreement over that document becomes a real dispute.
How Tom Approaches a Problem
Tom believes that good legal work begins by understanding the facts and determining what actually needs attention first.
His approach is methodical:
Understand the client's objective.
Identify the facts and documents that matter.
Determine the immediate risks and deadlines.
Explain the available options clearly.
Work toward a practical solution.
Where possible, identify what can be done to prevent the same problem from occurring again.
Tom also places a premium on communication. When an issue arises, his instinct is to address it directly, determine what happened, help solve the immediate problem, and improve the process going forward.
For a business owner, that means legal advice designed not merely to answer a question, but to help determine the next move.
When Tom May Be Able to Help
Tom's background is particularly relevant when:
A customer, vendor, consultant, employee, business partner, or other party is not doing what an agreement requires.
The parties disagree about what a contract means or who is responsible for a problem.
A business has received a demand, claim, or other communication and needs to understand its exposure before responding.
A dispute involves a large number of documents, complicated facts, or significant legal research.
A business owner wants to explore resolving a dispute before it develops into more expensive litigation.
Negotiation has failed and a matter may require mediation, arbitration, or litigation.
A legal issue involves securities, financial transactions, regulatory concerns, or another complex commercial subject.
